Have you ever thought that we eat what we eat based on subtle influences from all around us? There are six suggested influences in food choices that make people navigate towards certain foods and not others.
One being taste, whereby everyone has different taste buds. For example, some people like truffles and other people don’t yet truffles are among one of the most expensive food out in the market.
Another one is marketing and advertising. Whatever the media says is good, is what everyone tends to buy. For example, frozen ready to go meals as compared to making fresh meals.
Also, culture tends to affect what food choices people make, like Jewish people eat Kosher meals and Muslims don’t eat pork. This is all about culture, growing up believing something affects what one chooses to eat.
Health may also lead to this because one may believe that opting for a vegan or fruitarian diet could help in weight loss and also make one healthier so they may choose to adopt this lifestyle.
Emotions play a key role in what people want to eat, if one is feeling heartbroken for example, one may navigate towards eating junk food to cope with eating their feelings.
Economic Status whereby living within your means applies to what you eat, for example, you may want to dine at the top restaurant in the world but will break your bank account to do so, hence it’s not worth it.
